Sustainable Travel Star: Raymond

19 May 2023

This month’s Sussex Sustainable Travel Star is student and keen cyclist Raymond, who has used BetterPoints to complement his regular cycling and earn rewards. Here's his story:

"I first saw the campaign being advertised in an email sent by the University and I thought, as I already had my bike with me, it would be great to earn some vouchers for cycling and doing what I'd normally be doing anyway.

The app has made me feel even more accomplished after I've cycled or walked by awarding me points. It's great to get active when I need to go somewhere. I feel energised and ready for my lectures after cycling there.

The amount of vouchers available is a huge motivation, normally I spend mine on a takeaway!

I tend to cycle to university using the cycle lane on Lewes Road. It's usually a pleasant ride and generally quite flat. I just have to watch out for cars pulling out sometimes.

My favourite route to take in the city is the cycle route along the sea front which is absolutely great, particularly when doing the whole way from the Marina all the way to Hove Lawns."

A massive well done to Raymond, our newest Sussex Sustainable Travel Star and winner of 10,000 BetterPoints. If you think it could be you next month, take our Sussex Star survey on the app now!
